(adapted from a recipe in Dutch Oven Cooking by John Ragsdale)
Ingredients:
3 lb beef, cubed (ground beef will work also)
2 tbsp cooking oil
1 tsp salt
1 can mushroom soup
Brown beef in the cooking oil in an open oven (note: if using ground beef you can prepare ahead of time at home and freeze it -- this will make it easier to transport); Add salt and can of soup. Place lid on oven and cook over low fire for 1 hour; add water if needed.
Variations:
Add chopped vegetables (carrots, celery, onion, leeks)
Use vegetable soup instead of mushroom soup
Add 1 small can of corn
