Summer Camp

Camp Olmsted, Goshen, VA

24 Jun - 1 Jul 2001

It was a great week!  Troop 1018 won "the oar" as the best troop in camp on the first day and narrowly missed being named as best of the week (an honor given to our next door neighbors, Troop 24 from Washington, DC). Our Troop also received the Goshen Adventure Award for their activities during the course of the week.

We camped in a new campsite called "Club Med" -- right on the beach of Lake Merriwether.  So what did our intrepid scouts do?

Well, how about: earning 20 merit badges, nightly campfires, avoiding capture by Mothman, swimming, hiking "miles" from the site to the main camp, great camp improvements, leading the camp flag ceremony, the endless role plying game, the endless chess tournament, "Ghost Chickens in the Sky", daddy longlegs, etc.
