This Powhatan District Camporee marked the return of the camporee competition and Troop 1018 fell just a little short -- garnering a second place overall finish among the 25 or so patrols competing in the events. This marks the sixth straight time that a 1018 patrol has come in either first or second. Just wait for fall . . .
But camporees are really not about the competition, they're about having a fun filled weekend for all involved, and this one certainly filled the bill. We had great food (don't we always) and the games tested Scoutcraft skills across the board. We presented another original skit (actually two of them) ["two minute survivor" and the "longest survivor ever"]. Even the weather cooperated -- during one of the wettest Mays on record in Northern Virginia we managed to get in an entire camporee without a rainstorm.
We had fun, we learned, we ate!
