For his Eagle project Chaz chose to build a footbridge on the Appalachian Trail. The project bridges a small stream that is prone to flooding and often presented a muddy mess for hikers. Now, a nice new, well anchored bridge stands across the stream. Well done Chaz!
Dishing out the lunch -- barbeque -- Texas or North Carolina style
Digging a ditch to divert overflow water The bridge takes shape
Sitting on the (almost) finished product Working on the bypass ditch
We also used old bridge material to build a new path over a muddy area about 100 yards down from the new bridge.
Standing on the new bridge! Another Troop 1018 Eagle Project is complete and AT hikers will benefit for many years to come.
Plaque for the bridge . . . AT hikers will know that their trip was made a little easier thanks to BSA Troop 1018!
