Troop Hike

Shenandoah National Park

22 June 2009

As our second Kandersteg prep hike we had a scenic hike along the White Oak Canyon Trail and Cedar Run Trail in the Shenandoah National Park.  Both trails follow creeks with lots of falling water and great scenery.  After a 2500 foot climb we were at the peak and headed across Skyline Drive for a short walk along the Appalachian Trail.  Check out the picture below of Mr. Youmans hitting the water after a slide along one of the waterfalls in Cedar Run.

Intrepid hikers about the head out

Is he really as old as the hills behind him?

Apparently not everyone is quite as great at hiking as the Boy Scouts . . .

Another of Sam's critters

On the Appalachian Trail                                                                                  Time for lunch!

Bambi checks us out.                                                                                       Mr. Youmans reaches the end of his slide into some genuinely cold water

Sam always seems to find a snake somewhere

                                                                                                                       Almost at the end . . .
